I am sure dealer would love to sell it to you for a price. Seriously, there is a part number for it. I would guess that dealer does not stock it usually. Therefore, they might have to order it. Some dealers offer discounts (10% to 15% is quite normal). If I have to guess, this would cost around $100-$200. Plus labour, you are looking at $200-$300.
There are plenty of wrecking yards in your area. I would check there before the dealership. Recycling parts is good for your wallet and the environment.
I'm not sure, but in your case I think it may be called the Map Light Assembly w/o Navigation (I've linked the part and interior roof illustration -- its #12 in the illustration): Toyota Parts Cheap.com Don't know why the Toyota OEM parts sites catalog only goes up to 2008. I suspect all the parts for the 2009 are the same as 2008, but they just haven't updated the catalog.
We have the conventional salvage yards, and also a "u-pull" one in my area. For the u-pull you bring your own tools, ask if they have any of the models of interest, pay an entrance fee (just a few bucks, free if you have a pass), find the wreck, remove the parts, and pay for them on the way out. It"s cheaper than a regular salvage yard. Hopefully there are some like that in your area. Happy hunting!
Looks to me like a "Map Light Assembly", part number 81260-47010-a0. Parts.com - For every part of your life shows a price of $77.83 (msrp of $112.57). If my visit to Sunnyvale Toyota today is any indication, they would charge about $200 unless you choked, in which case you could talk them down to $112. If you go the dealer route, take a printout of the price page from an online dealer such as parts.com to your local dealer parts department.
That Parts.com site is cheap! The ToyotaPartsCheap.com site I linked above charges $90.06 for the same part.
i needed to replace my bulbs, but i accidently twisted it instead of just keep it still and pulling out the bulb and lost grip. They shot into the cavity, so I have to take down the whole light assy. Stupid me didnt realize that I couldve screwed off the screws where the sunglass holder is to make life easier so i can get the assy down. I simple pulled on one side to get it down which was the side not near the window, and when i palmed it to return it to place, the clips were in the wrong place, and it shattered so now it wont reattach. Crap happens.. :embarassed:
Anthofang, You might find this service manual section about the interior useful (once you're in the document, do a word search of "map light assembly"): http://www.hybrid-synergy.eu/Documents_2006/IR - Interior.pdf Good luck.
thanks, kinda figured this out too late... i wish they had given a copu of that manual, cause i don't have one. Also I did ask how to remove it but all i got was pop it off, no mention of screws. Sigh owell. It's a mistake that taught me to be more careful next time.
good news, today the lo jack guy came to inspect my car to see if the lo jack was done correctly by dealer and he was able to fix my map light assy by replacing the clip so hooray! i save money! So lucky. :cheer2:
