Automatic headlights are no longer linked to the driver's door. They act like most Toyota models in that they stay on 30 secs after the doors are locked then shut off Even though there's a separate button, the headlight washers are still linked to the windshield wiper washer. They will spray once when the wiper washers are activated. The pre-collision system is operational when Pre-collision seat belts: Vehicle speed is above 3 mph (5 km/h). The relative speed difference between your vehicle and another vehicle that is ahead of your vehicle, or the speed at which your vehicle is approaching an obstacle is greater than 18 mph (30 km/h). The front occupants are wearing a seat belt. Pre-collision brake assist: Vehicle speed is above 18 mph (30 km/h). The relative speed difference between your vehicle and another vehicle that is ahead of your vehicle, or the speed at which your vehicle is approaching an obstacle is greater than 18 mph (30 km/h). The brake pedal is depressed. Pre-collision braking: The pre-collision braking off button is not pressed. Vehicle speed is above 9 mph (15 km/h). The relative speed difference between your vehicle and another vehicle that is ahead of your vehicle, or the speed at which your vehicle is approaching an obstacle is greater than 9 mph (15 km/h). There's a PCS Off button located close to where our current SKS toggle button is. Hill-start assist control While hill-start assist control is operating, the brakes remain automatically applied after the driver releases the brake pedal. The stop lights and the high mounted stoplight turn on. Hill-start assist control operates for about 2 seconds after the brake pedal is released. If the slip indicator does not flash and the buzzer does not sound when the brake pedal is further depressed, slightly reduce the pressure on the brake pedal (do not allow the vehicle to roll backward) and then firmlydepress it again. If the system still does not operate, check that the operating conditions explained above have been met. Weight limit is 825lbs or 370kg. Plasmaclusterâ„¢* (if equipped) Plasmacluster will operate in conjunction with the air conditioning fan motor when it is turned on. This air conditioning system adopts plasmacluster technology, which helps to keep good air quality in the cabin by emitting positive and negative ions through the driver’s side vent. A slight noise may be heard during operation. This is not a malfunction. Also, static electricity may be discharged near the driver’s side vent due to the high voltage used to operate the system. To clean the driver’s side vent, turn the system off and wipe the vent using a soft cloth. Solar Panel Ventilaton System Operating Conditions The solar ventilation system may not operate under the following circumstances due to a lack of power from the solar panel: Low amount of sunlight Ever when a part of the solar panel is cast by a shadow. Ever when a part of the solar panel is covered by fallen leaves or dirt. The solar panel is not at a high temperature. (I think they mean "even" not "ever") Remote Air Conditioning System Operating conditions The system will only operate if all of the following conditions are met: The shift position is in “Pâ€. The “POWER†switch is OFF. All doors are closed. The hood is closed. The brake pedal is not being depressed. The air conditioning is not set to MAX HOT. When leaving the vehicle Check that the headlights are switched to either off or “AUTOâ€. Check that the wiper switch is turned off. Check that all windows are closed. Check the temperature setting of the air conditioning system. The remote air conditioning system will operate in accordance with the temperature settings of the air conditioning system. Remote air conditioning system automatic shut-off The system will automatically shut off under the following conditions: About 3 minutes have passed since operation began Any one of the operating conditions is not met The system may also shut off if the charge level of the hybrid battery (traction battery) drops to low. (→P. 188) Conditions affecting operation The system may not start in the following situations: The charge level of the hybrid battery (traction battery) is low (→P. 188) The air conditioning temperature is set at a high level Will continue to update this as I find more info. Security feature Any unlocked doors will be automatically locked when the system is operating. The buzzer will beep and the emergency flashers flash when the doors have been locked or the system has been turned off. (The doors locked: Once; The system turned off: Twice) Low beam halogen bulbs are H11 (same as Camry) Spare tyre is compact but 16" in size. One of the narrowest I've seen at 135mm width The licence plate bulbs are the same W5W (168/194) wedge base bulbs.
When I read that in the manuals I didn't like that at all. They (the headlight washers) should only activate if I want them to by pressing the appropriate button for them, IMO.
Oh Oh. If that is the case, not very well thought out on Toyota's part. In most cases (IMO) the need to wet-swipe the windshield does not necessitate a headlight wash - especially as most headlight washers spray the fenders/hood/bumper cover and cause streaking. The only time I use headlight washers is on long trips where the leading edge of the car may get buggy or dusty. Rarely use the headlight washers, and if they are automatically tied to the windshield washers- THAT would stink. Why not automatically hit the rear window washer too then???? I sure hope that's an error in the manual.
The way I read headlight washers is that headlights had to be on for them to operate. The headlight auto-off time is also dealer customizable.
This video shows you push the button for the headlight washers to spray--I, too, hope they don't spray every time you use the windshield washers:
Hopefully the "linkage" is: Windshield wipers ON - push headlight washer button = washer operates. Windshield wipers NOT ON - push headlight washer = washer DOES NOT operate. Makes sense, in case the driver accidentally presses the button. If the circuit formula includes headlights need to be on, doesn't make sense. This stuff is all fun - like 'what color eyes do you think the baby will have"?
To all: Sorry, Rick mentioned a crucial bit in his post. It will activate if the headlights are on. If the headlights are off, then pulling the wiper stalk will only activate the windshield washer. That makes sense in the winter when there's that salt/sand/snow crud all over the car and you're cleaning the windshield. Chances are, your headlights are filthy too. However, if it's raining in the summer and you just need to wipe the windshield, it's kind of a waste on the headlights. Also, it defeats the purpose of having a separate button because you wouldn't clean your headlights now if they're tied to the windshield.
Ok, that makes a difference (I didn't even remember reading it was only when the headlights are on) but not much a difference imo. If there's a separate button for the headlight washers it should be only that button that makes them wash the headlights... I wonder if something such as this could just be changed at the dealerfrom within the software... Probably not since things which can be dealer changed are mentioned right?
I don't see any mention of customization, however only the first pull on the windshield will activate headlight washing. The second and subsequent pull within a specified interval (i.e. while wipers are wiping) will not trigger reactivation of the headlight washers. From the owner's manual: * The headlight cleaner can be operated when: The “POWER” switch is in ON mode and the headlight switch is turned on. If equipped, the headlight switch is in the “AUTO” position and the headlight is on. * Windshield washer linked operation: When the windshield washer is operated with the “POWER” switch in ON mode and the low beam headlights on, the headlight cleaner will operate once.
