I understand the 2005 Prius had airbags in the front seats as an option only and the 2007 Prius' had seat airbags as standard equipment. Does anyone know if the wiring, connectors or sensors changed over the years or are all Prius seats with airbags compatible plugging into Prius' of different years? I know Solar_Powered's guide for adding height adjust in 04-06 prius mentions 2 connectors from the seatbelt and seat position sensor plus 1 more connector from the airbag itself. My 09 also has 3 connectors under the seat. ----------------------------- The reason I ask is I found a 2005 Prius seat w/ airbag at a local junkyard for $275. I won't buy it unless the electrical would be compatible with my 09. BTW, my 09 seat is fine, the 05 seat would be used to build into the 07 Corolla seat.
I think that you will be ok, but to know for sure, I suggest that you sign up at TIS (Tech Info Services) and download the 05 and 09 wiring diagrams for the SRS. My 07 also has 3 connectors under the seat - 1 is for the seat belt sensor, 1 is for the seat position sensor, 1 is for the airbag itself.
So what your are asking is can an 05 Prius seat be used in an 07 Corolla. Are the wiring and sensors the same in a Corolla as in a Prius? Am I understanding you question correctly?
I think that he is planning to do something like this: http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-main-forum/58247-i-added-new-handle-08-a.html
Signed up for couple days of techinfo, looked at SRS. thanks dogfriend and firepa. You're right dogfriend. I'm looking at Solar-Powered's method too. I'll price check an 09 LH seat airbag/wire. (<< edit-airbag not sold separately) I could use the buckle, position sensor, wire harness from my 09 seat. Still need a good used Prius seat because I won't disassemble mine for this experiment.
