Okay, bedrock8x is closer to understand the poor humor. You have to look at the number of miles on the odometer. It's a little more than a mile from the gas station to work. After an hour of driving, I was able to stealth and glide most of the way. So after a mile, I was at 77.0 mpg. Below is the picture I took at the gas station. I saw 60mpg a few times earlier this week but congestion, long-distance creeping, and a really bad thunderstorm beat me back to 59.2. Only this morning, after 30 minutes of 50-75mpg segments was I able to get it up to 59.6 which was still short of my goal of 60. About the EBH: yes and no. I have an EBH but it's in the box in the cargo hold. I will not install it until I have a garage to plug my car into. I just don't like/trust my neighbors.
I'll get a shot of my CAN-View one day after I fill up and glide the 2 miles home showing 120mpg if you like. Nice start...now hold that for the next 600 miles and you've got a challenge worth taking!
Anybody remember the Joe Izusu commercials. "This car can get 60 mpg" while disclaimer at the bottom of the screen read "downhill in a hurricane".
Heck, I've gotten 99.9 MPG on a warmed-up engine driving on pure elect until the battery drains so far the engine kicks in - usually a couple miles. And this was without a fillup! I reset the dsiplay and drove off electricity for nearly 2 miles.
"And you can buy one in your spare change" If you happen to have $15,995 in quarters.. Awesome commercials..
I had a pretty good run on my way to work today...11 miles of 35-45mph roads...moderate traffic. No downhill coasts longer than 30 secs...was able to do some crawling in EV mode in traffic... Doing pretty well with this tank so far (my best first 100 miles since I got the car - 5 tanks completed)... Trying to get the MFD up to 65 mpg on this tank...
Hi Tony, I have done as good as 83 mpg in the 5 mile drive from the gas station home (after driving the car for 18 miles and having it all warmed up). This week it was 78.3 mpg. It is down hill on average, but there are a few up hill sections, one of the steepest and longest in this kneck of the woods actually. Its the section where the Mustangs get stuck in the winter during a heavy snow.
psch... get back to me when you get 156.8mpg... too bad yours only goes to 99.9mpg... ours shows 1.5L/100km. 3km downhill back home. Hmm, come to think of it, I've never tried EVing home.
Cant we all get along? Lets put an end to this OK? 255 MPG is the max for the CAN-View. And note that this is just a half a tank! IN YOUR FACE! >Do I get banned now?<
Yes, mpg records are not so meaningful without knowing the distance. I propose using the 1:1 standard for comparing short distance mpg records, where distance must be equal to or more than mpg. So, for example, to claim a mileage record of 77 mpg by the 1:1 standard, it would have to be obtained over a distance of at least 77 miles. Or if, for example, you get 77 mpg, but only for a distance of 60 miles, then you can only claim 60 mpg for 60 miles by the 1:1 standard. Another variation, but only for highway driving, would be the 1:1:1 standard, where in addition to distance, the average speed also has to be at least as high as mpg. To claim 55 mpg by the 1:1:1 standard, you have to get at least 55 mpg over a distance of at least 55 miles at at least 55 mph average speed. In other words, only the lowest of all three counts. If, for example, you get 58 mpg for 60 miles at an average speed of 52 mph, then it only counts as 52 mpg by the 1:1:1 standard.
What's a gallon? What's a mile? Oh yeah, those ancient ad hoc measurements. I routinely get 3.6 to 3.7 l/100 km after I fill up on the 7 km to home. No EV, no P&G. That's 63 to 65 in ancient measurement (US MPG) or 76-78 in "traditional" ancient measurement (Imp MPG). I CAN'T hold that for a tank of course. Especially with all the cool weather we've been having. The best I have ever done was 4.4 l/100 km on a tank. And I can't really claim that with any integrity as it was only one tank. I could have been fooled by the bladder.
