Last night, a few seconds after starting the car the MFD started to beep and act very strangely. The climate control screen popped up with the message "Diagnosis 21". I switched it to the energy screen, and "Diagnosis 21" was shown instead of the outside temperature. I shut down the car, waited a few seconds, and re-started... did not re-occur. Very weird... anyone else experience this before? Is it a software bug or something that I should be concerned about?
me neither, will check my prius stuff when i get home my guess until then would be a power on self test message, which wouldn't be in any prius manuals, but in some toshiba/denso manual theres a post i made in the knowledge base, you could check the mfd lan monitor page to see if it logged any ram or rom errors. i think the code is 01-21-110-a-b or 01-22-110-a-b a= unknown meaning b= number of times the errror occured 01-21 01-22 rom error ram error 110 mfd
yeah theres nothing i can find about "diagnosis 21" however if you do have 01-21 logged in the lan monitor screen, it means you need to get a new MFD
It happened again this morning... I snapped a couple pics with my phone: After I shut down and re-started the car, it went away... no problems driving and I didn't notice anything else unusual with the MFD on my drive to work. Rigormortis: how do I check the lan monitor log?
Could there be a connection between "Diagnosis 21," and the Maint Required light that is illuminated? What is the mileage on the car? Last service?
I'm overdue for 30,000 mile regular service... I'm pretty sure that the light is for that. It's been on since the odometer tripped 30K. I don't think I saw the maint light the first time it happened either. The last service was 2 months ago at 25K miles.
OK, so far so good -- that means I haven't a clue. And the cable on the left of the top picture, a ScanGauge perhaps? If so, does the SG show any codes?
It's not a scangauge.. i think it's my sunglasses. Anyways, I think this has been a harmless bug (knock knock), but I'm just surprised that nobody else has heard of it or anything else like it.
I am way out of my depth here. Verily, you have raised an interesting question. And like the thirteenth strike of a clock, it begs the question, "And what about the preceding 20 numbered diagnoses?"
it happened again! and again, no other problems, after re-starting. i noticed that the traction battery SoC was down to 1 or 2 purple bars at the time.
