Prius word meaning

    Does anybody know what the word Prius means? Does it possibly mean "First"?:confused:

    So is it "PrIus" or do you pronouce it "PrEus"
    I've always heard it Eus, but I have some guy telling me it's Ius.
    Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear (hate him and STUPID pointless show) calls it Ius as well.
    So, which is it?

    The Brits tend to say PrIus, everyone else says PrEus. When I heard the Prius chief engineer call it a PrEus I knew we were right and the Brits were wrong. :D

    There's a fun little saying, "quos Deus vult perdere, prius dementat."

    Roughly translated, it means, "those whom the Gods wish to destroy, they first make insane."

    In this way, you see the phrase "prius dementat". As in, the insanity goes before the person's destruction.
