Boo had asked for moon roof dimensions.

    Here's what I've measured.

Near the front, the glass is 44" wide, 20.5" deep. Deflector is 7.5" deep. Solar panel is 23.75" deep and approx 42" wide at the center.

Inside - the "opening" is 30" wide and 16.5" deep. Actual opening with the sun shade slid all the way rearward is 14". The opening starts approx 11.5" from the windshield line as measured from the center of the driver's side visor.

Roof opening - from the front rubber seal to the lip of the glass. Max opening is 11.5". First auto open stop is 9.5". When auto closing, it will stop at about 4.5". Holding "close" after that will close the roof completely. Remember, this panel slides up and over.

I didn't measure the deflector prop height, or the height of which the sunroof glass props up in the tilt mode.

Hope this gives some impression of the overall size.

Also worth noting, if you power off the car w/ the roof open, the car will beep once as a reminder. Took me a second to register this.

    Thanks Rick!

    Didn't expect a separate thread. :p

Nice size. Sounds like with the roof fully open, the actual physical opening is 30" x 14". And with the roof either open or closed, the view through the opening and/or glass is even bigger than that.

Easier to find in it's own thread rather than going OT in the pics thread (or wherever). Yea, 30"x14" view of the sky is about accurate, the physical opening when fully open (i.e. sticking something through) would be more like 30"x12".

    Thanks again Rick.

FYI, that Gen III factory sunroof opening is wider than the opening on the aftermarket sunroof on my Gen II Prius (Webasto SolAire 5300/4300 models -- probably the most popular aftermarket sunroof for the Gen II Prius):

    Webasto SolAire 5300/4300

Glass Roof Open & Interior Shade Open: 26-3/8" x 13-3/4"

Glass Roof Closed & Interior Shade Open: 26-3/8" x 12"

Also, as you and I previously discussed, another plus for the Gen III factory sunroof is that its opening seems to be more in front of and above the driver's head than the opening on aftermarket sunroofs for the Gen II Prius.
