I saw a few examples of the new Gen III Prius in the secure compound awaiting customs clearance at Outer Harbour Adelaide on Wednesday. I took photos and will post them after I go back to work on Monday. They had signal mirrors, halogen projector style headlights and fogs. Wheel covers were not fitted as is to be expected when on the docks.
Looking forward to seeing your pics. How is the Australian Gen III pricing compared to the U.S.? I thought I read somewhere on P.C. that the starting price point is much higher there, unfortunately.
There are 12 new models in the docks holding compound here in Brisbane....2 of them with our Club Member's names on. Unfortunately, we have to wait until 16th July to get our hands on them!!! We should know Australian model pricing in around a week.
I have been waiting for Toyota to invite me for a test drive. I thought they were going to send me an invite, at least that is what they told me back in March at the Melbourne Motor Show. I didn't know the launch date so thanks for that. I was also told I would get a priority price offer, but nothing at this point. Through the fence pics are still to come.
Here are the pictured. I saw 4 new base model Prius. I believe they are base models anyway. No solar roofs to be seen.
Always have had fogs on all models in Australia. We also pay a premium price compared to the USA and even Canada. It will be interesting to see the prices as we have always had disc rear and fogs will we also see a larger price reduction than the USA? Doubt it.
Ahh.. well so far it's been holding the prices steady or lowering it. My guess is Toyota Australia will hold pricing while adding more content.
Prices for T3 and T Spirit remained stable here in the UK, with the T3 getting slightly better specs than before. T4's price increased a bit, which reflects its better spec compared to the previous model (it's more of an upgrade than before). Of course Toyota did increase prices by £500 across the board about six months ago, but that was to be expected when the pound did its lemming impression...
The wheels are the 15 inch wheels you get in North America. We wont get 17 inch wheels here so I was told at the Prius launch in Melbourne. What you see in the pictures is a weather cover over the wheels for transport.
Those in your pics? Those are halogen projectors. I mean the winter grey that was taken off the Australian site had the solar panels, LEDs and 15" alloys. I assume that's your i-Tech model.
Yes, those cars in the photo are our Base models with standard lights....our I-tech gets LED lights, Moonroof/solar panels, leather trim, radar cruise/pre-collision, HUD, IPA, NAV, Remote a/c, side indicators in mirrors, reversing camera....but no 17" wheels.
Thanks Sleeka, I took more pics of more Prius in the same dockside compound today, there is a swag if Prius come into Adelaide.
ok so there you go, you're not missing much cause your top model has everything except 17" alloys. We don't get LEDs on our top model (probably a pricing issue). Our top model costs Cdn$36,565 which I think is reasonable for all that technology (A 2005 with nav cost $37k which was subsequently bumped to $38k in 2006 and stayed there til 2008). LEDs might've pushed it back to $38k and that's really encroaching Lexus territory. Hmm, there's gonna be a huge price jump between base and i-Tech eh? Definitely not gonna offer a midrange package in between?
Currently the difference is $9000+ so we will see a bigger difference than that. If the iTech breaks through $57,123 then it attracts a luxury car tax which adds 25% of the amount the price exceeds the threshold to the cost. I doubt the Prius will cost that much.
