Wouldn't it be fantastic if there was a device that could tell all the people behind you what your current MFD mileage was? I'd love that. Somebody should make and market one of those. What's the point of hypermiling if you nobody knows how good you're doing?
Don't be stupid Fibb. The Prius is no kind of weapon compared to a 3 to 5 ton pickup truck (which is the reason half the Pickup trucks are on the road around here I think). It would be like taking a knife to a gun fight, as the saying goes.

Yes. Pre-hybrid, I've had a couple long-haul trucks try to use the rear tire of their trailers to physically push my car off the road. They didn't appreciate me standing my ground by obeying the speed limit in the right-hand land.
That doesn't match my experience in BC. While not as aggressive as SoCal, the BC stretches I've been on seem to be more aggressive than my usual roads at home. The trucks that attempted vehicular homicide on me had out-of-region plates and logos.
i want an LED sign that tells when you're accelerating.. or coasting.. plus gas mileage.. those conbined should reduce the chance of someone hitting you. they know you're slowing because everything tells them so. ( i try not to use my brakes. if i do it's taps to indicate i've dropped 2mph or so )
The law does not allow a moving sign or the message changes display in the back window unless you are the law enforcement or emergency vechicle.
