I'm probably going to have to replace the tires on my 2008 Prius before the winter. I bought the Michelin X-Ice Xi2 for the winter, and want to find some tires for the rest of the year that last a long time, and are good for fuel economy. Any suggestions?
Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus (or the bigger brother the MXV4 S8). Quiet, comfortable and decent wet/snow traction. Wears fairly well too. Had it on our Camry XLE.
It doesn't appear that Michelin sells those for the 16" alloy rims that came with my car. Michelin's site only says I can use their Primacy tires, and they seem to be summer tires which don't usually last all that long. We rented a Prius while on vacation in California, and the tires on that were GoodYear, but I didn't think to check which ones they were. Thanks again!
Primacys are stock tyres in Japan for the 16" Prius. If you rented one with 15", it's most likely the Goodyear Integrity (ugh). mmm... Michelin Harmony is an ok tyre. It's just an average all-season tyre. If you want good wet (rain) traction, the HydroEdges are good.
I think the Goodyear TripleTreds are wonderful. I'm not sure they come in 16", but that should be easy to check.
I believe they do. It's the 185/65R15 spec that they don't make. (so... which tyre spec are you running on? lol)
The 195/60, which is only slightly wider, and may well be what the car was designed for, if stock tire sizes for the European Prius are any indication.
No, I'm using the stock 15" wheels. Are the Euros 16"? I didn't know that - I was thinking only of the width.
Yeah, they don't get the 15s that we have. They're the same 16s found on the Touring (US) and the Special Edition (Cdn 2008) modes.
