My 2008 Prius that only has 1.1k miles (Owned for like 8 or 9 months) on it has been blowing warm air when i turn on the a/c, I tried lowering the temperature but it is making hardly a difference. I noticed when i took it on the highway for a 30 min drive and it was about 88 degrees out and was getting hot, though I began to sweat even more with the a/c on. The car cooled down quicker when i rolled the 2 front windows like an inch. I'm like super tight on money right now, but I'm a noob, so I was wondering if anyone knew the quick-fix or if this would be covered if i went to the dealership with it. This is part of the bumper-to-bumper ain't it?
If road debris happened to put a hole in the condenser, no that would not be covered by warranty. Even a rock thrown up by a semi is enough to puncture the aluminum condenser
your still under warranty right? take it to the dealer. My prius was doing the same thing and they just reset everything to make it better. I would see what they say first. I doubt it was a rock.
Been there, done that (in a different car). In my case a chunk of rusted sheet metal fell off of an ancient pickup and lodged in the condenser. The repair was in the mid to high 3-figure range IIRC.
All depends on if they also talk you into replacing the compressor. We've had figures on the forum of $700-$1,500 to replace the condenser, evacuate and recharge the system
The Prius aluminum condenser does appear more vulnerable to road debris Warranty only applies to manufacturing defects. It specifically excludes damage, eg road debris
