The drive is about 1000 miles. My prius got about 52 mpg. The hills to the top of the grand canyon killed my mph. I get about 65 mpg driving at average speeds. This car needs to use the power switch when going up hills. The big rigs were going faster than me. Fun car to drive going fast. My average would be about 57 mpg driving fast and glinding on the electric power.
Sounds like a great trip! I'm assuming that it was hot and that you had the a/c on all the time? Prius fully loaded with people & luggage?
The grand canyon was about 75 degree, arizona was about 85 in June. I going to put a Yakima rack and drive my prius every where.
Are you saying you couldn't keep up with the big rigs? Or you just slowed down more than they did on purpose?
