I bought four new wheels for my new Prius IV. They are similar to the alloy wheels sold with the Prius V. The cost was $100 per wheel. Really enhances the sporty look. Perhaps I will loose a bit of mileage, but the look is great. Anyone want 4 factory wheels and plastic covers? They are yours for shipping from Phoenix.
** Moved to modifications forum ** Please post pics if you can. What size and tires did you end up going with? Have you noticed an MPG difference? What brand of wheels?
You probably won't lose any MPG. People with the stock 17" tires aren't reporting anything noticeable, and whatever wheels you bought are almost certainly lighter than the 24lbs stock 17"s.
What rim/tire size did you go with ? and what offset ? I'm already planning on getting a set of wheels for my Prius III that hasn't even come in yet, but cant seem to get the correct info on rim size (17x7?) and offset (+40?) Ive found a few rims I like, but dont know the weights. Did find a nice Motegi 17" that weighed 18 lbs. ;D
Not sure where this information came from, but here you go: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/59555-17-inch-2010-wheels.html#post815114 Wheel weights on the 2010 are 16.3 for the 15" and 24lbs for the 17".
Thanks for the info. Yeah I know the weights. I found some nice 17" Motegi's in black, that weight 18 lbs. They are 17x7, and it hink 48+ offset. Just wanted to see if those would work. Anyone know if 18"s will fit ? hmm....
225/40-18 is a very common tire size. Diameter is 25.1 inches so they should fit just fine, but the width may be an issue. 215/40-18s have a more limited selection but would work just as well as the stock 17s at 24.8 inches. You can play around all you want here: Tire size calculator Stock 15s are 195/65-15 so that's 25 inches. The stock 17s are 215/45-17 so that's 24.6 inches.
