You can also buy brand new generators that run on propane or natural gas. I'd go with propane, in a large scale catastrophe the natural gas line will probaby be ruptured
I am a seismologist....I am not worried My reason for non-concern is everyone living in California knows what to do in an earthquake. And the buildings have all be retrofitted for earthquakes, right? Remember, earthquakes do not kill people, thinkgs falling on people kill people.
Re: I am a seismologist....I am not worried Just think of it as a really quick "Urban Renewal" program. Takes about a minute for the teardown part, it's the rebuild to and beyond "Code" that's a bitch!!
Nobody "deserves" anything, whether good or bad. Stuff happens. Places and activities have specific levels of risk. The great difference between earthquakes and tornadoes is that so far, nobody can predict where and when an earthquake will happen. If you're on a bridge when it collapses due to an earthquake, it's bye-bye. Tornadoes only occur with severe thunderstorms, and these can be observed approaching. Of course, we're all more likely to die in a traffic accident than in an earthquake or a tornado.
