This is about $3K off full retail price. Another dealer said he could do it between $54K to $55K, but hasn't put it in writing, so I question that he can. I think I will be able to get it for $55K
I have received a quote for $44,990 Drive away for a Base with Nav Upgrade and $54,000 drive away for an Itech. The above pricing was quoted including a "fleet discount", but based on what you are saying it may not be as generous as it could be. Now just waiting on a quote for novated leasing. The trade in quote of $14,500 for my 2006 Itech with 104,000k was a bit "Ouch" I may consider waiting 6 months and picking up a demo.
2006 base models are selling at government auction in South Australia for Kms: 37265 $20600.00 Kms: 27907 $21200.00 Kms: 53183 $21400.00 Kms: 58961 $20000.00 Kms: 33044 $19800.00 Kms: 23914 $23200.00 Kms: 70819 $20000.00 A lot of these are listed as having stability control which I thought was only on i-Tech but none are listed as i-Tech. Man O' Man... $56,300 AUD is $46,000 USD! This means that these cars are about 50% premium in Australia as compared to the U.S. Prius V, with Advanced Technology, which stickers here at around $32,500 (or 39,775 AUD for our top of the line). Why such a significant difference? And what sort of Delivery fee is charged down under? In the US, we are at $750USD (or $920 AUD) for many parts of our country.
Now you can understand our Pain I can understand the US market is much bigger than the Aussie market, but at the end of the day its about proffit margins. Our dealer delivery is about the same, but we pay stamp duty wich is about 8% of the cost of the car. I wonder if toyota will offer specials a few months after release, as is the case with most new releases. Now that the R&D has been done and paid for, we should start seeing a relative fall in the cost of the cars. Thanks Pat for the auctions costings. The 15k for the I tech would probably sell for 20-22 in the yard (the dealer needs to make a buck) So far my leasing quotes have been about $1,400 PCM for the base and $1600 for the I tech. I noticed they quoted based on the car using 9L per 100kms @ 1.53 Per litre
Those government auctions are dominated by dealers buying cheap cars to make a buck on, although they are open to the public.
