I've had my 2010 Prius II for about 2 weeks. Love it. There's only one thing I a little confused about. When I park the car at work in the morning, the charge level shows about 2 bars down from the top. When I return to the car to head home for lunch (about 4 hours later) the same indicator shows only 2 bars up from the bottom. The car is parked in the sun, and noon temp is near 90. If asked a couple of Toyota folks, but they seem to be creating an explanation as they talk. It always ends with ... if there was a problem, you'd see lights and warning codes. Do any of you see anything similar.
It is like that for me when I park in the garage at home at night and take off to work the next day. The garage is cool (50-60 degrees). One thing I noticed last night though... I went out to do some work and noticed a whriling noise coming from the back end of the car. I think people have mentioned this is the inverter. The thing was, this was like 3-4 hours after I got home. Makes me wonder if there would be any charge at all after a week of sitting. Peter
This info is in your manual, fyi: "Approximately five hours after the hybrid system is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and, it does not indicate a malfunction."
