warning signs of a dying transaxle?

    Are there any warning signs of a transaxle that's going to die soon? Or does it just die suddenly?

    The typical scenario:

    1. excessive heat in MG2 that requires instrumentation to monitor but internal temperatures above boiling
    2. humming that varies with speed and continues when rolling in "N" but can be confused with a bad wheel bearing or CVT joint
    3. error codes
