Got an option on two vehicles, one has the new package (Safety Connect & USB) and one does not. They are essentially the same price. The USB is the only item I find useful in the new package. I wonder if the new package will be the better choice as all new like vehicles will have it? The one without the new package has Port installed paint protection film and illuminated sills that makes the price essentially the same. My thinking: The paint protection film is nice but does not cover the bumper so it is a half solution. The illuminated door sills are not necessary but would see them every time I entered and left the vehicle. To put the USB would cost more $$. I'm not happy about the add-ons in either case but that is the way it is. Such a dilemma... Thanks for your input.
You could take the earlier version and add USB. That being said, test drive both if possible. They may have reprogrammed the steering for the updated version as well.

Yes but that makes the older package car more expensive. I won't be able to test drive both as one is out of state. It's a model / color combo that is hard to find. I read about the potential steering update as well and that is interesting. I also have to beleive that a number of small changes were made as well in the mid year update but don;t have data.
I'm not sure... The interesting thing to your point is I can add both to any Gen III Prius, where I can't the Safety Connect. I don't know if I value the Safety COnnect as I have never had that capability. If my wife is driving the car, I would be happier if it had it. She does not necessarily agree. Perhaps it's worth testing it with the free year subscription. I do like having the most current production capabilities as they have learned something in the first 6 months. As HTMLSpinnr said, they may have updated the EPS profile per the other link. Another interesting thing is the residual value of the cars have gone down as the new package is ~1k lower!!
I just checked. It's ~$1k not 1.5K. I edited my previous post. Still, when I saw this I asked if they sent the wrong numbers becasue they sent the residual in a seperate email from the DIR. They checked and again. Residual for 36 months low went from 18777 to 17802. I want to see the DIR with the numbers included and get confirmation from a different dealer.
Picked up my 2010 SR yesterday!! Decided to go without the new Safety Connect/USB package. I concluded SC was not worth it and I could add the USB whenever I wanted. Also, the Prius Team's comment made me believe there would be no steering changes in 2010. Coming from a Gen II , I must say the Gen III is a very nice improvement overall. I like the Bridgestone Ecopia tires it came with as well; good ride and relatively quiet. Thanks to all for your input. Now it's time to just enjoy the ride
