i don't know. i won't be getting my prius for 4 weeks. i just need another 2 posts after this. i'll get back to you in the future.
How many are there, how big are they, and where are they located relative to the ends of the windshield wipers? If there are but two them, and they are ~1/16-3/32 inch in diameter, and just under the ends of the wipers, they are registration marks for properly re-mounting the wipers after the wiper arms and motor assembly have been removed -- which for example is necessary to mount a front shock tower brace on the Gen II.
Yes they are there. My Gen2 had them and my Gen3 also has them. As previously stated they are wiper registration marks and they are actually clear dots in the black part or the windshield. There is one in the back too but it is a red dot.
We appear to have classified them as functional rather than ornamental. However, what is a wiper registration mark? Help please, I can not settle!
As Rokeby has mentioned above (post #3), "they are registration marks for properly re-mounting the wipers after the wiper arms and motor assembly have been removed -- which for example is necessary to mount a front shock tower brace on the Gen II."
A "registration mark" is a general term for a mark that helps you line something up (register it) to something else. The term is often used in printing operations in reference to a mark that aligns the image to the page. In this case, the mark is helping you put the wipers on in the right position so they park correctly.
