Ok I know how to start a gen 2 prius. But I was told that starting a 2010 prius was different. Can somebody who has a 2010 prius please post the how to's. Thank you.

Get in. Push down the brake. Push the "Power" button. You just have to have the key fob with you (in your pocket, in your purse, whatever.) I think this is the different part, as if I am correct in previous versions there was a slot or area for the key fob to go into?
There is a slot in the Gen2 to put the key fob in. But, all package 2's and up had Smart Key (SKS), so could leave fob in pocket, etc... and power up car. I think Gen2 package1 did not have smart key and had to put fob in slot to power up the car. Doesn't the Gen3 have a key fob slot? If battery goes out on key fob, you'd need to put in the slot to power up the car, right?
The 2010 Prius doesn't have a slot for the key fob. If the battery dies in the key fob, you unlock the door with the mechanical key (just like the gen II), then touch the key fob to the power switch. After the alarm sounds, you then have 10 seconds to press the power switch (while pressing down on the brake pedal) to start the car.
Same as the Gen II with the Smart Key System. Gen II models had optional SKS so models without SKS required inserting the fob into the slot in the dash (and unlocking the conventional way of pressing the UNLOCK button on the keyfob). Other than those two steps, the start up is the same. Press the brake pedal and push the POWER button.
In Gen II, as soon as you hear the double beeps, you can put it into D gear. Does 2010 Prius start faster?
It is no different than the Gen2. My 2010 and 2007 start the same way. The only real difference is the lack of a space in the dash for the key fob. 2400
I can time it, but I'll need to go drive it first!! Really, I don't "feel" that it differs in any significant way from my 2007.
I timed my '06 with a stop watch. From the moment I pressed the START button (with my foot down on the brake) to the Ready light come on. It takes 1.7 seconds.
