Hi everyone, look at what I found! Just a little nostalgia! Doesn't look to bad either. I would take one if they gave it to me. Just thought I would share some pics of "The car that shook the world!" What do you all think?
The concept wasn't a full hybrid. In fact, it didn't even have a battery-pack. That first attempt used a Cone & Belt type CVT, just one electric motor, and an ultra-capacitor. .
A friend that lives in my apartment goes to Japan every so often. He told me that he had something that would interest me. I almost fell off my chair. When I saw the body shape, I knew that it was the original Prius concept car. I compared it to the last page in THE PRIUS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD. The blue colour looks nice, but the "bathroom yellow" looks awful. I only wish he had some interior pictures. I would love to have seen how much different the NHW10 and NHW11 were from the original concept.
I remember these pics. The blue one was the one on display and is the one shown in car magazines (I have one such magazine with that blue Prius shown). They've always showed the front of the car and I never knew how the rear looked like but there is a site somewhere (I might've linked to here on PriusChat actually) that showed the rear of the yellow vehicle and it kinda looks like an Echo lol. Maybe that's why they never showed the rear.
Thanks! I have not seen the last two pics in gold and gray. I have only read about it in THE PRIUS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD book.
That concept car actually looks quite ahead of its time compared to most of the cars that came out around '95.
WOW that is so awesome, thanks for that! Now if we could only get an interior shot!!! I always wondered what the rear looked like! Thank you so much!
Those'll never sell. Thanks for the pictures. They really are great. It's good that they are still around.
