I'm using the term pests rather loosely here - it could be ants, spiders, field mice, rats, moles, voles, gophers, woodpeckers or whatever other animals you've got in your yard/house that are a constant problem. For me, it's moles. So far this year, i've added seven "notches" to my belt - i killed 2 of the buggers with the shovel, 2 with the lawn mower (leaves a bloody mess but is soooo satisfying), 2 with traps, and 1 by flooding him out... and then hitting him with the shovel. I would love to find some sort of live trap system... but nothing like that seems to work (in my experience). Plus the added problem of needing to transport the sucker far enough away before releasing that his great grandkids won't even be able to get back to my yard... Anyone else have any common pests they get rid of in interesting ways, or have suggestions of better/more humane ways of treatment for common pests?
If they come in the house, they are usually escorted outside. If it's some sort of critter that I don't want in the yard, then it is chased, tossed, or shut outside the fence. No problems here with moles, etc., but, if I did have them, I'd try the vibration thingy you stick in the ground to chase them off, first.
Im testing an electronic Ratzapper . Amazon reviews say its effective. It electrocutes the varmint and you just empty it into the trash. So far they wont eat my bait. They go nuts over recyclable packing peanuts. I guess they are made of pure starch. I once put a garbage bag full in the garage and ended up with a bag full of holes. I guess I should just use those for bait. In one room I have a commercial size audible repeller. That works well in a small area.
OK, someone has to say it, I found with moles that just makes them glassy eyed and coming back for more.
