I just replaced the batteries in my two original SKS key fobs (from when I purchased the car) and now the proximity "smart" portion of opening the doors no longer functions on either remote. All the lock/unlock buttons work on the fob and I can start the car without having the fob in the ignition, but I can't open the doors without hitting the unlock on the fob. That requires me digging thorugh my purse every time I want to unlock my car. Did the fob lose it's program when I changed the battery? Any suggestions on what to do to make it "smart" from a proximity standpoint?
Hi Julie, Look for the SMART button which is located under the steering wheel, near your left knee (when you are sitting at the driver's position.) Try pressing that button to see if you can get the system to work.
The button should be in the OUT position for the SKS to be active. There is also a possibility that the door sensor has gone bad.
The button was in the OUT position. When I pushed the button IN and then OUT again and tried the fob, it worked! Thanks a million. Your solution saved me a lot of angst. :cheer2:
The combination of your reply and the other reply I received from Patrick Wong really helped! I'm not sure if I would have thought to reset the button if I didn't know it was supposed to be in the OUT position. Thanks for your post and help.
