I just received word from a Toyota dealership partner that Toyota has sent out a notice that they have issued a cargo net repair kit. It should be under warranty for just about everyone unless they are over 36,000 miles. For those of you who don't know, the OEM cargo nets have been on "stop sale" since shortly after launch of the 2010 Prius. It looks like Toyota is trying to get everyone's current cargo nets fixed before they put out a new cargo net product since one has not shown up in the inventory system yet. Go to your dealership and get it fixed!
This has been in the works for a little bit. My dealer's parts guy told me about it two weeks ago, and he said he'd put an order in for me. (See my post in Re: 2010 Cargo Net issues and resolution (panel separation)) I haven't heard anything more, but the parts guy said the item was listed as a "fix kit" for the cargo net, so it must be the item you've heard about recently. What remains to be seen is how Toyota will handle the repair of the panels with holes in them.
I live in Huntsville, Alabama, but I bought my car in Nashville, Tennessee, which is about 2 hours away. (The local dealerships didn't have allocations that met my needs.) To get my cargo net problem remedied, do I need to go to the Nashville dealership, or can I ask the local one? My thinking is that Toyota will pay for the repair, so it doesn't matter, but I'm not sure.
howdy, i just got my 2010 prius and i have the cargo net, but no screw thingys to attach it to the car. anyone know where i might find these (and perhaps their scientific name)? thanks!!
HI folks I just got my caego net fix done Not bad but I was hopeing to keep the original hooks since they were there and I had already fixed my problem.(redrilled and new anchors ) I found out that Toyota wants the other hooks back .So now I have theses ugly non functional plugs where the hooks use to be .Looks wierd The new hooks are in place OH WELL!
Just another - yah they'll fit it - post... I would add - if you can bring the TSB number, it will help - we spent ~20 min going back and forth. Mine was not installed yet - but they had to open a case (in the end) - .2 hrs to install............ The service guy made a copy and kept it for the future - but most will look at you like - what are u talking about (my guess - cause that's what I got at first)... It's 3 days to get the part in...
here's two pics from my prius i picked up 2 weeks ago. it was on the lot for 1 week before. maybe manufactured 4 weeks ago? the hook looks like it came from home depot and they bent it to fit.
