You need to change a setting on your account. There is a sticky here that explains how to get in. Enjoy! http://priuschat.com/forums/freds-h...ical-subforum-fhopolitics-read-here-join.html
Up until not too long ago, FHOP included political discussions. But these were often so rancorous than many members (especially those just interested in the car) were offended. As a remedy, Danny (the owner and administrator of Prius Chat) created the House of Politics, and set it up so that members would not even see posts in that forum unless they requested to join that forum. Thus, if you want to participate, you can (by "joining" the forum, as per the link Olivia cited above) but people who don't like to see the political arguments don't get them in their search results or list of recent posts, etc. The mods enforce certain rules of behavior there, but the level of rancor is high, and personal attacks and insults abound. The political forum is full of questionable and sometimes downright false assertions and attacks on public figures, some veiled racism, and high levels of emotion on all sides. No matter what your point of view, someone there will accuse you of having as your sole purpose in life the destruction of America. If that's your cup of tea, have at it. But it is definitely not a polite, friendly meeting of the minds.
"You guys bashed the wrong guy, he has many friends in many places. " Is that some kind of threat? Dave asked a legitimate question. Why would someone's first post on a car website be how to get into the politic's section? He doesn't have to answer it.
Good catch, Dave! I didn't even notice this was his only post. There probably should be a board rule that people cannot enter the politics forum until they've made 25 posts in the car-related forums, and been a member of PC for a week.
Because it's extremely annoying when someone decides the best way to win an argument, or convince other people their viewpoint is the best, is to get a bunch of your friends to come over and say the exact same meaningless BS... I, for one, am only ever swayed by the actual facts (and truths) presented/debunked - not by the number of people who happen to agree with a particular viewpoint.
I was actually thinking that in order to get into the politics forum you have to click through at least 100 ads. I'm sure Danny would appreciate that. Oh, and if you could scan and email each Moderator a $5 that would be great. (front AND back this time)
Why not just post you're address? Then the eggs... i mean, $5 bill... could be delivered right to your front door a lot quicker and easier
respectfully, that seems to support my point rather than yours whether it be incremental or exponential increases, if it's meaningless BS or drivel, compounding it should only more clearly expose it for what it is ... no? i would assume, and i'm aware of the flaws of making assumptions, that prius owners would be an articulate, educated and political group so i'm unsurprised that someone may want to dive into the politics section right away as for what you find annoying ... i cannot comment i accept that others have opinions that differ from mine some can articulate their opinions well, and even support their opinion with facts when called upon others ... not so much *edit oh, and i agree with Tony's suggestion, buying into the politics section should be the only way in ... it's much more realistic than simply letting just anyone have a voice
from a historical perspective in that forum, that's not what we've seen. Something that is clearly debunked comes around again and again. I used to spend a lot of time debunking items and arguing them... until i realized i was just repeating myself over and over again to argue against the same fraudulent points that were being thrown at me again and again. It serves no purpose, to see that someone is getting all their friends to come to support those same points over and over again is ridiculous, and extremely annoying to people who are looking for discussions centered around current issues and the facts that support both sides. As it is... I'm ignoring well more than half the posts in that forum now because they're completely and totally pointless reposting of the same useless drivel.
There's been a sudden influx of rabid right wing posters who's first post appeared recently in the forumn that shall not be named. And they're all hailng fromn the Northwest.
