So, I got my black 05 Pkg #6 two months ago. It looks great (great tint job makes it stealth) and I have averaged 47.6 mpg. I have enjoyed the car. But I need to sell it and I could use your guidance on pricing. I am a Realtor who specializes in selling homes on acreage in and near San Antonio. The Prius simply is not appropriate to go on rough land. When I ordered the car not that much of my business was of this kind. And, I clearly ignored some of the facts going in because I loved the technology and the green aspect. So, I need to sell the vehicle. It has 4,850 miles right now. There is still a waiting list in the San Antonio area. What would you ask for the car? I also have the XM kit from Coastal Tech but haven't installed it yet. FYI, I still haven't got off the waiting list in San Antonio. I actually got the car in Vegas because I was tired of waiting. Careful what you wish for.
Well, depending on the wait list....you could probably get real close to what you paid for it. Some are going to pay MSRP for you car used and with miles rather than wait months or risk being jacked for a "market adjustment" price. Put some ads in the paper for MSRP and see if you get any bites. You might have to throw in the XM radio. If you want to continue to go green...have you considered the Highlander Hybrid or the new Hybrid Lexus? Will those go on the rough roads?
I agree you could easily get MSRP for it, but will have to include the XM Radio to sweeten the deal for selling a car with miles on it for what it sells for new. I'm not saying you would, but for the love of God, don't do what some dealers are doing and jack up the price because you live in an area where it's still very popular demand wise. Just a thought. Good luck, sorry to hear you have to sell it. Dave.
I tend to agree with these two about the price. If you sell at MSRP, you are less liely to look like someone trying to turn a quick buck. When someone asks why you're selling, you can tell the truth instead of having to explain why you're selling above MSRP.
Check with your tax accountant to be sure but I'm pretty sure that you still get to claim the $2000 federal tax deduction even though you're selling the car. It's for new owners onlyand isn't transferrable. Sorry that you're having to sell the Prius but hopefully you'll be able to come close to breaking even on the deal.
It should sell real quick, FOR YOU ALL I know a dealer with 2 of them right now, good ones, new a seaside blue with PCKE #2, at $23900 and another one DK green with everything except NAV for around $27000, pop me a note or email ([email protected]) if you are interested, no waiting list just come get them!! This dealer does no tricks and sells them list price, and is located in Texas.
