I didn't realize I couldn't turn off all of the beeps/auto locking myself! The dealership will take care of it all tomorrow, thankfully. This was my first time driving a 2010 and at first I felt really far away from the windshield. I still don't know how to achieve a glide and I miss the mfd terribly. Also, the dealership said I'd have a backup camera but they didn't tell me when I declined the nav I declined that, as well. I wish I had more time to research the packages but I had to replace my gen 2 which was destroyed a month ago by a drunk driver, along with my back (rough for a semi-athletic 20-something to suddenly be immobilized; not that it's easier for anyone else). Ok, onto the good! I paid for my pkg IV exactly what I paid for my gen 2. My dealership was awesome and they even just about matched the priuschat extended warranty. The drunk driver paid for it so I wasn't too eager to pull an even better deal. My first trip of highway 55-70mph and center city Philadelphia driving yielded 59.8mpg with factory psi tires. In the rain!!! For reference the same trip in my 42/40 II in ideal conditions would get me about 55 or so mpg. Wow. I decided already I will only use power mode since I'm already getting better mileage. Interior is awesome. What an improvement. The car from the side still is goofy looking but it looks like a luxury sedan from the front. I hate the stock headlights and will get them switched out after the settlement. A black prius begs to be tinted. What a slick car this will be. The battery only mode is much more powerful, too. First thing I noticed. Overall, given the terrible circumstances, I couldn't be more pleased. For anyone in Philadelphia go visit Faulkner Toyota. They got me in the color and pkg I wanted in 3 weeks. Second prius I bought from them and happy each time.
Cool story. Thanks for sharing. I bought a 2009 model a few weeks ago after debating some of the issues. I ended up with a dark grey touring edition, I love it! This was also because I came to a similar conclusion about the car; I really liked the old MFD too. I also get 55 mpg combined with the Gen II and I figured I could live without the additional ~5 mpg of the Gen III. To be honest, I like the look of the Gen II, it's such a cult car. Either way, both are great cars!
Thanks. . I haven't had much of a chance to drive since I'm flying all the time. One nice bonus I did notice on Sunday is that they threw in XM. Or it came with the car and they didn't realize it.
