I'm a 20 year old student in California (I major in biological sciences, though I'm looking at switching to bioengineering or automotive engineering). I'm primarily a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast, but I appreciate and respect other people's tastes in cars (though, that doesn't mean I won't be keeping my own judgments in my mind).
Quite frankly, I used to be the kind of car enthusiast who loathed the Toyota Prius, questioning who on God's green Earth would ever want to own one, let alone drive it. Well, then my aunt leased a Gen3 Prius Persona Series back in 2015, and purchased it in January 2018 when the lease was over (then sold it to me, after she loaned it to me for a few months as my Mercedes was out-of-commission... Plus she felt bad that I was daily driving my only car, which would get at best 17.4 mpg).
After daily driving it for a month, it hit me. I then understood the appeal of Priuses (Prii?). It's not meant to be fast, or handle super well. It's designed to be utilitarian: it's extremely spacious on the inside, has incredible cargo room, it's a very safe car, it handles decently enough to not be a death-trap, it at least accelerates, it gets phenomenal fuel economy, and it's extremely reliable. I was looking at it the wrong way all along -- I was looking at it from an enthusiast's standpoint, not from a daily driver standpoint.
So, here I am. After having gone years loathing Priuses, I've actually begun to like them.Interact
