Just dropping in to introduce myself. My name is Dave I'm a firefighter EMT of 14 years. Also a diesel and off road motorsports enthusiast.
Welcome Dave. Have you ever responded to a hybrid related accident? What was your training in that regard? Peter
Several this year actually Peter. Im a 14year MN/WI certified firefighter 10yr NREMT B 4 yr NREMT paramedic 5 years MN/WI hazmat tech. Various other traings in fire EMS issues. disaster recovery. High angle and specialized rescue as well. As to the other questions I see coming I responded in fdcapt's thread. Our training regarding hybrids or any other vehicle for that matter is nearly exactly the same
Dave, When you say several what kind of number and frequency can you put on that? Since hybrids in general account for only 3% of new car sales in the US, I'm wondering if they account for 3% or more of the accidents. And when I hear the word "several" I'm reminded of the Woody Allen movie "Annie Hall" when "he" and "she" are asked about sex: He: "we rarely have sex; only about three times a week" She: "we have sex all the time; at least three times a week"
Tony if memory serves me correctly 5-6 this year were hybrids. The most memorable was a rollover resulting in left arm amputation at the shoulder. Although hybrid or conventional vehicle the outcome wouldve been the same there. The best advice I can give is dont drink and drive. Especially with a 9 month old in the backseat
