Looks like this is from a 2004-2005 model year car. The design was cleaner, and there was no need to have fake items embedded within.
Yes, now I see that the 2004 Prius eBrochure shows those headlights without the fake LED separator bar and without the amber cover extending down the side beneath the separator: 04_prius.pdf
cool great info as usual guys! I was going to try to buy a 06+ headlight and try to make the fake LED bar functional with the park lights....with a LED light strip....I've seen this somewhere.
I've asked about this mod several times before - nobody here had tried it and I was surprised. Jump to a few weeks ago, and I saw a volkswagon with modified LEDs in the headlights on the freeway. Let me tell you, it looked SUPER LAME. Stood out like a sore thumb. So I would not recommend this unless you can make it look clean, sharp, and natural.
Tideland, This car has the "crystal smoke" headlight reflectors -- the lenses are clear -- that I like beyond all reason/common sense/discretion. Can you provide any info, link, etc. that might lead me to the owner to ask some questions. (If not in the thread, PM would be fine.) I would be eternally grateful.
These pictures were the first ones I saw too, and are what prompted me to ask about the mod several months ago. I think they look great too. Keep in mind, however, this is a photograph. I believe they are used in the advertisements for blinglights. However, blinglights does not even sell this kit. Sound fishy? It could be photoshopped. I imagine this is a pretty difficult mod. You'd have to bake the headlights, sand and paint it, wire the LEDs, and worry about potential electrical fires. Hey, if you can do it, more power to you. I'd love to see it.
Hey, thanks. Searched the site and the car is from Japan. Drat! Unfortunately, the JDM headlights for right-hand drive cars will not work for left hand drive, US/Canadian cars -- they would aim to the left, into oncoming traffic. So, I'm still lookin'.
macmaster... it's Japan. I don't think anything is out of the question. They spend a LOT of money on car modifications.
