I never experienced the engine immobilizer light in the 2 years and 31,000 miles I've owned this Prius (08). It only flashes RED CAR with key thru it when the key is removed from the ignition and everything is off. The dealer (King in Deerfield Beach FLA says it normal. However, it's never done it before? I thought it was the Hybrid drive system warning light as they look similar. Any ideas? Thank you. Steve
Ditto what Patrick said. I forget exactly the sequence, but there are some occasions when you may not see it. However, it should flash under the scenario that you presented. Sometimes dealers give out erroneous information. But this time it was correct. Best wishes,
