does anyone know of a really nice electric cooler I could gt for my Prius? Not too large and not a fridge, just a cooler. Thanks
I have tried a lot of thermoelectric coolers. Now I use an Engel refrigerator because it uses far less battery power and can keep ice cream too if you want in a hot car. For thermoelectic I've used Koolatrons, but I like the Waeco ones best Still limited in delta T to max 45-50 degrees. The come in lots of sizes, and some with thermostats. Then there's tons of cheap no name ones that can manage delta 35 degrees. Check out for waeco: (Some of the sizes are at Boats US) http://www.waecoadlerbarbour.com/ and for engel refrigerators: http://www.bigfrogmountain.com/engel_products.h
I use a Koolatron model P-25. Fits behind the drivers seat or in the trunk. I like behind the drivers seat so my wife from the passenger seat can reach into it. Cost me $49 at a Target store. Keeps food quite cool even at high temperatures. No mess with ice and doesn't seem to affect the mileage much. Look it up on the internet should be able to find a good price. Bob
Thank you for all your suggestions. I wish there was a power outlet on the back, so I wouldn't have to have a wire for the coller going all the way to the front.
can't use the center console for the cooler. you would have to have it opened while the cooler is plugged in
I use the center console outlet to charge my cell phone while I'm driving and the cord is slim enough that I can close the cover just fine. However, if you don't want to do that, I'm sure you could make a small hole somewhere for the cord. Especially if you are going to use the cooler a lot.
