I need a new right front fender (2005) and can't go through my insurance company. The body shop says I can save $100 by using an aftermarket fender and that it is a Kappa (?) I have no idea what that is but they said it like it was a good thing. Is there a difference in weight that would affect the mileage? I'm not working much so every hundred bucks counts but I'll be driving this car for a long time.
I've been told that aftermarket parts are just very slightly different due to the legal issues associated with making a direct copy. Considering that both are probably made from normal old sheet metal, I don't think it would have any impact on your mileage. It's a good opportunity if you like modified cars and want a widebody Prius though
