I had a 2007 honda civic with navigation system - it was far superior to the navigation in my prius IV. It does not give you a direct route. I put in addresses that I know the most direct route well and it directs me all over the place. Has anyone else had this problem and found anyway to make it more accurate. I have been trying to get help from Toyota --- unfortunately I began explaining to a technical support system and then had to take another call and get through because they have too high a call volume. Hmm wonder why. Have been trying to stay possitive but after paying 31000 less than 2 months ago - i'm just about had it. Thanks for listening
Have you taken a look into all of the preferences? You can opt to prefer highways, non-toll roads, etc. Take a look at that and see if it helps. In the end, it's just like looking up directions on Google Maps. Very often a human is going to know better than a computer on how to route a trip.
Sounds like you have "avoid highways" or some option turned on, that is routing you strangely. I would check the navigation options, and make sure nothing is on that causes strange routes to be used. Mitch
Gail, As per the other posts, your problem probably relates to how you have the preferences set. I have about a 30 mile comute to work, and when I use the NAV, it routes me almost exactly the way I've been travelling for years, which in my case, is usually the shortest route (distance, not time).
Thank you - I did finally get through to Toyota ---- I had worked with the preferences at one point and had it set to "Quick" not "Short"- also the Speeds throw things off--toyota doesn't allow you to put in accurate speeds because of liability which throws off the time. I take responsibility for user error - I just think in comparison to the 2007 civic navigation and using portable nav systems like tom tom- it's just not user friendly and the Toyota liability concerns seem to be much more important than customer satisfaction. On a more possitive note I appreciate your help and I did tonight for the first time after many calls talk to a very helpful Toyota rep.
Thank you - your so right about humans knowing better - I am forgetting how to think - great point. Wish I had thought more about that before I invested so much into the "extras". Have a good night.
