I recently purchased a 2005 Gen II Prius w/ 70k. I have 1 working smart key w/ working proximity detection. The SKS works as a remote device but when we plug it into the 'key' slot on the dash it doesn't work? This makes it impossible to make a second working key, remote or not. Has anyone else experienced such a problem TIA WJanitor
That's weird, usually the problem is the other way around....Do you mean the car will start with the FOB in your pocket, but it will not start if you insert the FOB in the slot?
I mean that too. It works fine as a remote, but it won't start w/ the 'key' in the slot. And therefore we are unable to program another key, because the FOB needs to be inserted in the slot to program another key. Weird, huh?
The SKS was an ok firearm and is good as any as a remote device. I'd put mine on the gunrack though instead of the key slot, but that would make for a great modification! That would get alot of looks.
