After researching for 3+ years, pining, giving my wife "sad puppy dog eyes", oogling the new 2010's, I FINALLY have my first Prius. A package IV with Nav, Barcelona Red with Dark Charcoal interior. I'm leaving behind a second hand 1989 Acura Integra with 230,xxx miles on it (~150,000 from me). It has had a full life, but it was finally time to move on. My new car is very smooth and quiet. My daughter likes the fact that it doesn't "smell" like an old car. My son loves the MFD, but is disappointed that I didn't get the Blue Ribbon Metallic which was my first choice (the dealer couldn't make a trade for it, all the blue IV's were sold). I took my mom for a drive and after hitting the power button, she asked aloud if the car was "on" and running. Hee Hee. Having the engine "die" when at a stop sign also caught her off guard (she's been driving 50+ years, she isn't used to cars doing such things). MFD showing 58 mpg on my 45 mile trip home from my parent's house (55 mph baby!). We'll see what the tank has in store for me come fill up time. What fun! Hopefully, I'll get to find some time soon to read through the manual and figure out all the buzzers, bells, and whistles.
:welcome: to the world of Prius ownership. :car: By all means, dig into the Owner's Manual... it's not written that well, but it is the "official word." Then there's all the info folks have posted here... good stuff. :thumb:
Welcome! You mean you've been "around" all this time and still consider yourself a newbie? My ego would never stand for that! congrats on your choice. I like the red and blue both very much. There is a red one at work and when I come out to the parking lot and see it glistening in the sun it causes me to second guess my choice of blue. Beautiful color!
Octavia is still relishing the fact that she outsmarted those Somali Pirates back when she was getting her Prius. :bounce:
Welcome and congratulations on your new car. I know the feeling of waiting that long to get your first Prius. I wanted a Prius in 2007, also, but had issues with the local dealer getting what I wanted. So, I finally got mine in August 2009. My college team colors are red and white. If I had seen a Barcelona Red before finding the Winter Gray, I may have changed.
