I think that is a little optimistic. I would say it is probably worth $5,000 tops. And that is only because the battery has been replaced. The main factor is the high mileage.

 

if you were out here, i'd give you a few bucks just to muck around with it.

I'd say the OP would be lucky to get $2K for the car: dents and scratches, 221K miles on odometer.

 

I just did a quick search on craigslist, base 2001 Echos go for a little over 3K. $5k might be optimistic, but $2k seems a little low.

If someone says the exterior is ok but has dents, I take it to mean that they are just door dings. If the dents were a collected and pocketed insurance claim and not fixed, then I retract.
