    It's also well worth checking this euroncap video testing the ESC, i am seriously impressed by how effective it is!

    Impressive but I didn't know the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) could be disabled . . . other than spoofing the tire rotation sensors. Some Jetta advocates seem to think operator disabling of ESC is a good thing.

    It can indeed be a good thing. I believe it is recommended if a compact spare tire is used.

    Interesting, both of our Prius now have full-size spares. I won't be able to test it.

    Having ESC is nice to have just in case.

    There are road conditions where you want to turn it off. I had the VSC off 5-10% of the time in my previous car.


    Sounds right, but how do you turn it off? I thought that the VSC couldn't be disabled because it also protects the electrical system. Please let me know if this is wrong.

    No idea how to do it in a Prius. Most cars I've driven have a button somewhere to disable it, but I don't remember seeing that button anywhere in Toyota hybrids.
