    Sorry. Just gotta vent.
Bad enough about the purchasing dealership not giving me the maintenance/warranty documentation. (Still haven't got it.)

Prius IV bugging me all week to take it in for the first 5K service. Get a letter from the ....salesman suggesting I call him to set up the service appointment at his dealership. (Right. Never showed me ... about the car at pick up. Only seemed to want my mobile phone number and address to program the NAV system. Doh! I can do that!)

Intend to take it to a dealership closer to the registered address (not where it has been most of the time - yep. Insurance knows, and it's a lower rate.) Contact them by their website to set something up. Reply only that request received. Nothing further. Nothing about hours, setting up an appointment.....

Get there. Hot, bothered. Driven through the night from another state to get there. Now they try to tell me that I will have to pay for the oil change and tire rotation! I think they would have if I had not called Toyota Central while I was waiting.

As it is, the TV in their waiting area has to be at least 85 decibels. Never heard a thing. (ears still ringing.)

Find the car in their lot with the battery nearly drained. Clearly they left it powered ON when they "parked" it. And, I'd finally figured out how to reprogram the touch sensors to unlock all doors to find that it was reverted back to the default.

LIVID! (and literally hot and bothered.)

Sorry. Just had to vent. May yet Tweet my displeasure.

How about letting *them* know your displeasure instead of complaining about it here. That way, just maybe, they'll take care of you.

Are you around Chicagoland? The dealership service places around here suck (there's a reason they all have like 2 star or lower ratings on google local). Historically they have had a very poor track record in terms of service quality (honestly, how hard is it to put the right oil in my car when I had the oil to them?) and customer service in my experience (to the point where I and my family will never buy another Toyota where we are required to bring it in to the dealership).

Maybe because forums are often where people go to vent? The OP did apologize twice in the post. Occasional venting is fine IMO.

And also sometimes a situation becomes so hopelessly inept that you quickly reach the realization that complaining to the entity that is bumbling the situation so badly isn't going to help.

Sometimes it can be so bad, you don't want to complain and give them an opportunity to screw up even more.

To the OP? Too bad about your experiences. I'd recommend cutting your losses and moving on.

So...you drive through the night to have your car serviced.

And don't bother confirming your appointment in advance?

    Why?

    And why?

What does several calls and emails constitute? Never did get the maintenance guide/warranty.

And without that I am supposed to know that Toyota has decided to change the service interval? What happened to Toyota informing the purchaser? Isn't their duty? The car was telling me to get the oil changed - literally despite the protestation of the other dealership. And I received a letter from the original dealership requesting I contact them to have the OIL changed.
