BP finally stops oil spewing from Gulf gusher & 48 hr report BP finally stops oil spewing from Gulf gusher - Yahoo! News BP: Oil flow stopped in test of new cap on blown-out Gulf well - chicagotribune.com
An expert on MSNBC said the cap was made from common parts. Why the hell didnt they do this in the beginning? My idea of putting a spike down the shaft is still better. Then the integrity of the upper well casing wouldnt matter.Just make the spike a quarter mile long.
So far the test is going well (no pun intended). It is very encouraging and hopefully the rest of the test goes well. Now, we just need to clean up what has already leaked, finish the relief well(s), and (as a society) learn from our mistakes!
And how much real world experience do you have on high pressure oil wells a mile under water? Are you smarter, more experienced than the guys who actually figured out how to do it? Sheesh. Let's all take a deep breath, hope that it holds and realize going forward that solutions to these problems are not simple or easy, and perhaps we should have thought about how to fix it before we allow more such wells!
