The small LCD display (Int temp, fan speed, etc.) in my Prius IV with Nav Package is very dark, read "unreadable" when sunlight is prominent in the car. This is so even with the panel rheostat turned all the way up to bright. Is this a faulty display or is there any work around if not? Thanx. Craig
Mine is fine but I believe there is a TSB out there for "cloudy displays". Call your dealer about it.
LCDs are transflective and ought to maintain high contrast ratios across wide viewing angles and external lighting conditions. I'm with spiderman.
Yes. I don't wear sunglasses. Probably should! ;o) I rented a Nissan Versa while traveling recently. It had a similar display and it was as bright as could be in all kinds of ambient lighting.
I have the same problem on my Gen 3 II Edit: Found this thread http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...5-cloudy-blurry-ac-screen-21.html#post1041196 That TSB is old and doesn't cover recent production, but the problem sounds the same. Does anyone know if there is a later TSB?
I was chuckling when I read the question regarding taking off one's sunglasses. I'm wearing polarized sunglasses and they do a helluva job in darkening the screen. I have to "rotate" the angle of my head and then the screen lightens up. I hope you find out what is wrong (if anything) with your screen.
The referenced TSB (TSB-0387-09 dated November 23, 2009) is the latest and greatest as far as I know.
