Hi all, Looking at a new Hybrid, am considering the Prius, Insight and new CR-Z. Prius is real attractive right now being as I can get one for $3000 under Invoice through USAA. I assume that is a good price. Insights are $2000 under Invoice and the CR-Z will be MSPR or more being as they are new. My biggest concern is seating position and leg room. Have not sat in or driven either, plan on doing that today. Any thought on which package is the best deal on the Prius? I'm looking at the III being as I really don't care for leather. Can you get the solar cooling option without the Navigation? Have had Toyotas in the past and don't care for their Navs because they won't let you use them while driving, is this still the case? Thanks... Paul
I test drove both Honda Insight and Prius and found the seating to be fair in both. USAA is a great option to use for any vehicle purchase if you are a member. Best of luck with test driving.
Yes the nav is still locked. However you can override it using a 4.1 kernel on the newer navigation disk data. It is a PITA though. I dont know what packages does what, but I highly reccomend the 3door SKS and backup cam (means higher res screen). Actually, I do not think I would buy another car that did not have the SKS feature.
Well, we're about $200 away from a deal on a 2010 Blizzard White Prius III with Nav. MSRP is $26,825, we have them at $22,181.16 selling price and $19,500 for my trade. That will have me paying $3464.03 out the door. I'm trying to get them down another $232.03 to make it an even $3232.00 out the door... Is this a good deal?
Smart-key system. In most 2010s it only works at the driver door to lock & unlock either the drivers door or all 5 doors (user selectable with FOB. 3 door senses a person with the FOB at both front doors and at the hatch door. Only the higher packages have 3 door which was pretty standard on the 04-09 models.
Exactly. I couldn't live with only one door having it. I constantly lock and unlock from the hatch and passenger door. Even when parked, I get out and walk around back and press the hatch lock button. Generally faster than waiting for the driver door to close and press the button then move on. Or when you have a bunch of things you want to put in the hatch, just go right there. No key fob fumbling or anything.
From 2K1Toaster's info, he's got a 2nd gen, like I do. One notable change is that on on the 3rd gen (model year 2010 and 2011, so far), is that if you don't get nav, there IS NO color touchscreen LCD at all. On the 3rd gen, if one wants the backup camera, one must go w/the nav package. See Toyota Vehicles : Toyota Announces Prices for 2010 Prius / Toyota. The prices there are old since Toyota's raised them.
Wow that's a bummer. Correct I have a Gen II. I have heard of companies taking common things that are offered on all packages of a previous generation and making them part of the higher packages on the next, but that is a little rediculous. Perhaps buy an 09?
i would seriously consider the crv. i've heard it blows everyone else away. how much are they asking?
How do you overuse the factory settings for touch screen usage? What is the 4.1kernel and where do you get it? TIA
