It looks like there is a glut of 2005 models in the San Francisco Bay Area. Just check the number of Craigslist ads by local dealers. Are people waiting for the 2006's and the tax credit?
I just KNEW this might happen! Toyota has known about our new energy bill since, when, June? So they knew there'd be a 1 to 1-1/2 month "gap" when '05s might pile up. Of course, if there's to be an oversupply, it'd be in the Bay Area, where allocations are highest. Maybe they can shift some of these cars to other regions where dealers have lists of waiters, at least some of whom would buy. Just a guess.
Seems that a 2005 delivered after Jan 1, 2006 would qualify for the Income Tax Credit. Perhaps buyers are waiting to take delivery after New Years. Sounds like a ±$2,500 good idea. Not only that, but a 2005 should enjoy a significant discount after the 2006's arrive.
