Just purchased a '09 w/Pack 2. I have a couple of questions/issues. First, the dipstick is stuck, and I mean stuck stuck. I have had dozens of cars and have never had this problem. It will turn, but it will not come out/up no matter what I do. I am not a 98 pound weakling either. Also, how do you take off the cap of the brake fluid reservoir? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Got the dipstick unstuck. The salesman I bought the Prius from thought I was a little touched when I told him the dipstick was stuck. Well, after bruising his hand on the air filter housing and almost breaking a finger he believed me. He took it back to the service department and I guess several techs took turns trying to get it out. Finally, a young buck pulled it out with one mighty pull. The tiny o-ring was all that was holding it in. It was as dry as a bone and the dipstick was twisted for 4-5 inches below it. I guess I did that damage. They put some oil/grease on it and all is well. However, I decided to buy a new one as I do not want that to happen again. P.S. I forgot to ask about how to remove the cap on the brake fluid reservoir. Does anyone know how to do it? I am not joking.
It's quite possible, but I have the dealership service records and the oil was changed every 5,000 miles or so. So, I guess the dealership never checked the level. Yes, very weird!
since oil consumption issues have never been reported on a prius, i wouldn't bother to check the dipstick either. most people who change their own oil don't even fill to capacity. As for brake fluid reservoir, ive never tried in the prius, but every other car ive tried i've just pushed down REALLY hard and twisted. Sometimes it takes some doing.
