the only disappointment with the 2010 prius is the terrible chem smell in side the car,, after six months it hasnt changed... in fact it is B.S. and doesnt seem healthy even running with outside air
As did the previous post, many people have commented, some with disappointment, that a new Prius doesn't even have a new car smell. You'd better get a dealer to check out your chemical smell.
Our car had minimal new car smell and it dissipated quickly. The all weather mats were a different story. When I took them out of their plastic covers, they smelled so bad that I wouldn't have them in the car. I was going to return them but after leaving them in the garage for a month, after a month of warm (for Victoria) weather, the smell had reduced to an acceptable (low) level and that went away in a reasonable time.
Mine also had a "urea" odor that came from the AC vents. My guess was the plastic had a bad smell used in the venting system. I did solve it by purchasing a product called "Little Trees" New Car Scent. Here's what I did: I took out the cabin air filter and placed a "little tree" on top of it. Then I replaced the filter. I got a nice fresh scent thru the AC vents. Eventually, my "urea" odor went away. Unfortunately, the "little tree" only lasts about a month.
