Mercedes and BMW will be putting their hybrid system across their lines in the next 5 years. The battery is likely the same 0.9kwh LI battery they used in their s400. In that application the hybrid components only added 110lbs. Because its lithium it probably has about the same usable capacity as our prius battery, but the car is much bigger. In the bmw activehybrid 5 they are using a bigger 30kw motor, and could be using a larger capacity battery.
