2008 Prius The right side main head lamp sometimes does not come on when I switch on the lights, this started happening about 10 days ago, rarely at first, about 50% of the time now. I would change the HID light bulb, but I am not sure that will take care of it since there is no visible deterioration in brightness or light quality when it is on. So far I just checked the visible / accessible light connections and fuses to make sure nothing is lose or burned or grounded, but did not find anything. My other problem is that money got very tight for me lately, so I cant be blowing $70-$130 per light bulb needlessly or taking it to a dealer or repair shop. Any good advice would be appreciated Thank You
It could be the bulb, the igniter, or the ballest. I would swap bulbs with the other side and see if the problem changes sides. I am not sure how to change out the other two parts on a Prius but the Gen2 forums might be a good place to search, I think quite a few people have had HID problems with the Gen2.
