Hi. My grandfather has a 2008 Prius (non-navi) and he's selling the car and has a buyer that supposed to see it on Monday 29th. So this issue needs to be resolved FAST... The main DISPLAY in front that shows your MPH and your Odometer and Gas and Fuel gauge...(that display) is working fine when all lights are off. But as soon as you turn on the HEADLIGHTS or even Park Lights...it disappears and goes blank. And you can't even see anything. (but Big Square Center Display works fine even w/ lights on) Is it a Fuse related problem? (where is this fuse/relay located)? Or do I need a new display?? Because it works fine & bright once lights are off. Please help me asap!! It's urgent!
Have you checked the dimmer wheel? It's to the left of the steering column, on the dash. Try turning it up. It doesn't sound like you have the much larger problem of http://www.lusciousgarage.com/blog/comments/video_prius_dead_dashboard/.
hi guys.... T H A N K Y O U soooo much!!!! You saved me I can't believe it was a dimmer problem. I NEVER had a car that Completely 100% turned off the display due to dimmer...lol I guess there's a first time for everything Thanks a million!!!! lol 4 me.
I've inadvertently turned the lights all the way up or all the way down while wiping down the dash. I would suspect that while cleaning the car for showing, this is what happened. You would think that turning the dash lights all the way up wouldn't be a problem, but the Prius dash lights "click" into the "always-bright" mode when the dimmer wheel is turned all the way up. In this setting, they lights do not dim when the headlights are turned on.
^^^ Yeah that's EXACTLY what happened lol I was cleaning my car & wiping the dash...lol it was soo N00bish of me
And I bet the dimmer wheel got moved because you were wiping everything so it would be nice and clean when the prospective buyer showed up. edit: ach... beaten by seconds on that comment.
