I find it funny after 2 years of having my Prius that pickup truck drivers are curious about the gas mileage in the Prius since the price of gas went over $3.00/gal in the Mid-Atlantic. I pumped $22.75 worth of gas into the car and the pickup truck driver was still pumping over $60.00+. The Ford pickup truck driver told me that I barely pumped any gas into my car. LOL. I use to drive a large truck and the mindset of driving a smaller fuel efficent car was more than half the battle for me to switch over. I'm so glad I made the switch a couple years back and commuting more than 35 miles one way really helps with the gas bill. Great car!
Not exactly a prius forum issue. Should post in Freds area. CA been over $3 for a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time.
If an LA station had $3 gas, there would be a long line. I bought some at Costco a couple of weeks ago for only $2.97, and thought What a deal!
And if it was $3 a gallon or even £3 a gallon over here there'd be a line visible from space. Presently we're at £1.22 a litre or about $7.00 a US gallon. Think yourselves lucky.
While we're making comparisons. Here in Australia my recent fills have mostly been at about $4.50au per gal (US). (That's $1.20au/L). Prices here have a fair bit of cyclic variation and I've actually seen prices vary in just the last few weeks from the very cheapest E10 at $4.25au/gal (US) to the most expensive regular at about $5.25au/gal (US). BTW. The au dollar is roughly at parity with the USD at the moment so the raw numbers above give a pretty fair comparison. If anyone else wants to report their local prices then the conversion factor is 3.785L / gal(US) and 0.833 gal(UK) / gal(US).
