So this large utility car was driving next to/ahead of me on the 5 freeway and he was dragging some improperly put-away chains and it kicked up some large rocks at my car. The damage is deep and the actual metal of the 2 left door panels is scratched deep. There are about 5 gouges about the size of half a dime each. Seems too small to get insurance involved, but the gouges are deep and I don't want to risk further damage from weathering. Should I fork over the $500 deductible for a fix? Take it to a paint shop? Take it to Toyota? Will insurance replace my lower rocker moldings if they deep the door panel as replaceable? I have touch up paint but I fear this will only aesthetically mask a potentially bad weathering situation
Serious bummer...I hope it gets fixed well. If your deductable is $500.00 then you will come out ahead. My Toyota dealer does a good job with re-paint.
Ouch, that sounds like a bad situation. I have done some paint repair myself, but didn't have any dents, so it was easy, just order paint online from Touch Up Paint Online - Remove Car Scratches then sand and respray. In your situation, i would check a shop to see if they can fix it for around $500. If they can, just pay that and don't file it with your insurance...this way your premium doesn't go up. I think $500 might get you a decent fix, but I can't see how bad the damage is so it's a little hard to tell
